UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH BOHEMIA

The University of South Bohemia is a public university based in České Budějovice, where about nine thousand students study in more than 220 bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral programmes at eight faculties. 

The Faculties of Economics, Arts, Education, Science, Theology, Health and Social Sciences, Agriculture, and Fisheries and Protection of Waters form a modern educational institution, an important centre of science and research in the south of Bohemia. 

It cooperates with more than 400 universities all over the world. The teaching is not only provided in Czech; selected programmes are also taught in English and other languages. 

Faculty of Science

Faculty of Science offers studies focused on biological, chemical, physical, computer and mathematical fields, in selected programs provides education of future secondary school teachers, its international teams carry out scientific world-class research.

Faculty of Arts

The top scientific workplace it provides education in the fields of philology, historical sciences and arts and culture, offers an opportunity to obtain double diplomas, in selected programs provides education for future high schools teachers.

THE INSTITUTE OF ARCHEOLOGY OF THE CZECH ACADEMY OF SCIENCES

The Institute of Archaeology of the Czech Academy of Sciences in Prague (IAP) focuses on the research of the human past not only in the Czech Republic but also abroad.  It covers all areas of the study of archaeological source material, starting from the fieldwork, through the analysis of the material remains, to generalising models and concepts of past societies, including their relationship to a number of cultural, biological and environmental variables.

Besides the essential primary research, the activities of the IAP scientific teams are also directed to the archaeological heritage care as well as communication with the general public through exhibitions, promotional publications, lecture series, web applications or volunteering programmes. Moreover, the IAP manages the most extensive branch library in the Czech Republic and makes it accessible to professional archaeologists, researchers, students and the general public.
